Adecco are currently recruiting for a Hospital Discharge Housing Needs Officer on behalf of a public sector client. This is an exciting opportunity to support vulnerable individuals at a critical point in their lives, helping to prevent homelessness and enable safe, timely hospital discharges.\n\nHospital Discharge - Housing Needs Officer\nPublic Sector - Local Authority \nFull Time - Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week\nGrade 9 - £22.41 per hour PAYE / £29.72 per hour Umbrella\nHybrid Working - 2 to 3 days per week in office, remainder at home \nTemporary Role - current sign off to March 2027\nIT equipment provided\nASAP Start\n\nAbout the Role\n\nIn this role, you will work at the intersection of housing and health, supporting patients who are homeless or at risk of homelessness as they prepare to leave hospital. You will play a key role in securing suitable accommodation, removing barriers to discharge, and ensuring statutory responsibilities are met.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nAssess patients who are homeless or threatened with homelessness in line with relevant legislation\nCarry out homelessness assessments and develop personalised housing plans\nTake proactive steps to prevent homelessness or secure suitable accommodation where prevention is not possible\nLiaise closely with hospital teams, adult social care, and external housing providers\nArrange emergency, interim, and longer-term accommodation as required\nSupport safe and timely hospital discharges by resolving housing-related barriers\nMaintain accurate and up-to-date case records in line with statutory requirements\nIdentify safeguarding concerns and escalate appropriately\n\nAbout You\n\nThe ideal candidate will have:\n\nExperience in homelessness, housing options, or a similar role within a local authority or public sector setting\nStrong knowledge of homelessness legislation and statutory duties\nExperience supporting vulnerable individuals with complex needs\nThe ability to manage a busy caseload and work effectively under pressure\nExcellent communication, partnership working, and negotiation skills\n\nDesirable\n\nExperience within hospital discharge or health-related housing roles\nKnowledge of local housing pathways and temporary accommodation processes\nFamiliarity with housing systems such as Locata or Jigsaw\n\nAdecco acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and an employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
