Permanent Buyer – Construction / Civil Engineering\n\nLocation: Outskirts of Newcastle\nJob Type: Permanent, Full-Time\nSector: Construction, Civil Engineering, Build, Structural, M&E\n\nA well-established construction and built environment contractor, operating across civils, build and M&E, is looking to appoint a permanent Buyer to join its procurement function.\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity for someone already working in construction procurement, or someone from a builders’ merchant / construction materials supplier background who has strong product knowledge and is keen to move into a Buyer role with a progressive contractor.\n\nThe role is a group-wide position, supporting multiple divisions across building, civil engineering, structural works, mechanical and electrical, and wider construction operations.\n\nThe Role\n\n * Procurement of construction materials across live projects\n\n * Plant on-hire and off-hire coordination\n\n * Liaising with site teams to understand material and plant requirements\n\n * Obtaining quotes and comparing supplier prices, availability and lead times\n\n * Raising purchase orders accurately and efficiently\n\n * Maintaining regular contact with suppliers and subcontractors\n\n * Supporting best value purchasing across the group\n\n * Assisting with subcontract procurement where required\n\n * Working closely with operational, commercial and site teams\n\nWhat We’re Looking For\n\n * Ideally 2–4 years’ buying / procurement experience, or more\n\n * Construction, civil engineering or building sector experience would be highly beneficial\n\n * Builders’ merchant or construction materials supplier experience would also be highly relevant\n\n * Strong knowledge of materials supplied into civil engineering and construction projects\n\n * Confident communicator with suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams\n\n * Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple requirements at once\n\n * Keen to develop a long-term career within construction procurement\n\nWhat’s on Offer\n\n * Permanent Buyer role with a well-established contractor\n\n * Based on the outskirts of Newcastle\n\n * Group-wide role covering build, civils, structural and M&E divisions\n\n * Competitive basic salary, aligned with experience\n\n * Competitive benefits package\n\n * Excellent long-term progression and personal development\n\n * Support towards CIPS / MCIPS formal training\n\nFor more information, please apply via CV-Library or contact David Fletcher of Fulcrum Recruitment
